🌍 About Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo runs on neighbourhoods, not a single centre. Shimokitazawa is the one worth your afternoon — a low-rise tangle of vintage shops, tiny theatres and secondhand record stores, with none of Shibuya's scrum. For food, skip the tourist sushi queues and find monjayaki on Tsukishima island: a runny, savoury batter you griddle yourself at the table, a genuinely Tokyo dish you won't get elsewhere. Practical truth: trains stop around midnight and restart near 5am, so plan the last ride or commit to the night. Best months are October–November — 15–22°C, dry, autumn colour, and hotels 20–30% cheaper than spring. The cheap-fare months, January–February, are cold but clear and calm.
