Rabat is Morocco's capital, which is exactly why most travelers skip it for Marrakech — their loss. The Kasbah des Oudayas is the reason to come: a walled quarter of cobalt-and-white lanes on a bluff where the Bou Regreg river meets the Atlantic, quieter and far less hustled than Marrakech's medina. Walk up to Chellah, a Roman and medieval Islamic ruin where storks nest on the old minarets.
