🌍 About Milan

Milan isn't a pretty-old-town city — it's Italy's money-and-design capital, and its best sights reward planning. The Duomo's real draw is the rooftop: you walk out among the marble spires and gargoyles, not just gawk from below. Leonardo's Last Supper is here, but tickets release quarterly and sell out in hours for 15-minute viewing slots, so book a month or two ahead or skip it. Order risotto alla milanese — short-grain rice gone gold with saffron and bone marrow, a genuinely local dish, not tourist pasta. Evenings belong to aperitivo along the Navigli canals. Come April–May or September: mild, walkable, and fashion/design weeks (which spike hotel prices) are over.
