On the cheapest Basic fare, AJet now gives you exactly one thing: a small personal item, 40 x 30 x 15 cm and up to 4 kg, that has to slide under the seat in front of you. That’s it — no overhead carry-on, no checked bag. Since December 2025 AJet (the low-cost arm of Turkish Airlines, formerly AnadoluJet) stripped the large cabin bag out of Basic, so the classic 55 x 40 x 23 cm trolley you used to wheel on for free is now a paid extra. Turn up at the gate with one and you risk a roughly €50 gate fee.
Step up to EcoJet (international) or Flex and you get the full 8 kg cabin bag (55 x 40 x 23 cm) back plus a checked allowance — 20 kg on EcoJet/Flex, 25 kg on Premium. Domestic and Northern Cyprus fares are more generous out of the box (15 kg checked even on Basic), but on international routes Basic is genuinely bare-bones. Read the fare name before you book, because “AJet from €32” almost always means hand-luggage-only Basic.

What you actually get on a cheap fare
What you actually get on a cheap AJet deal fare: almost nothing in the hold. A headline AJet price is the international Basic fare, which buys you one 4 kg under-seat personal item and not even an overhead trolley. If you only carry a backpack you can fly genuinely cheap — but the moment you need real luggage, budget accordingly: roughly €12 to add the 8 kg cabin bag, and around €20–€25 for a 20 kg checked bag if you add it online ahead of time.
Do the maths before you click. Often the EcoJet fare — which bundles the cabin bag and 20 kg checked together — works out cheaper than booking Basic and bolting on both extras, and it removes the €50 gate-fee risk entirely. The one Basic exception worth knowing: on domestic and Northern Cyprus routes Basic still includes 15 kg checked, so the cheap fare there is far more usable.
Oversize, sports & special items
2025/2026 change: the headline shift took effect in December 2025 — AJet removed the free large cabin bag from the Basic fare, so Basic is now personal-item-only and the overhead trolley is a paid add-on, matching Ryanair- and Wizz-style unbundling. AJet enforces it with a gate fee of around €50 for anyone arriving with an un-added cabin bag. The EU is still debating a minimum standard guaranteeing a personal item plus a carry-on (L+W+H = 100 cm) for all passengers, but nothing is finalised, so AJet’s paid-carry-on model stands for now.
Oversize, sports and instruments: items exceeding the standard checked dimensions or weight — skis, golf bags, bicycles, surfboards, musical instruments — must be declared and paid for as special/excess baggage, ideally in advance via Manage Booking; fees and acceptance vary by route and aircraft. A small instrument that fits the cabin-bag dimensions can travel in the cabin on a fare that includes a cabin bag; larger instruments need their own seat or go in the hold.
Frequently asked questions
Does AJet's cheapest (Basic) fare include a cabin bag?
No. Since December 2025 the international Basic fare includes only a personal item (40 x 30 x 15 cm, max 4 kg) that fits under the seat. The large overhead cabin bag is no longer included and must be added for a fee.
How big can my carry-on be on AJet?
The full cabin bag is 55 x 40 x 23 cm and up to 8 kg, and it’s included on EcoJet, Flex and Premium fares. The free under-seat personal item is smaller — 40 x 30 x 15 cm, max 4 kg.
How much does it cost to add a cabin bag to a Basic fare?
Roughly €12 if you add it online during or after booking. Arrive at the gate with an un-added cabin bag and AJet charges a gate fee of about €50, so always pre-pay.
Does the Basic fare include any checked baggage?
On international routes, no — Basic includes 0 kg checked. On domestic and Northern Cyprus flights Basic still includes 15 kg checked baggage.
How much is checked baggage on AJet's EcoJet and Premium fares?
EcoJet and Flex include 20 kg of checked baggage; Premium includes 25 kg. Domestic Flex/Premium fares are similar (20 kg / 25 kg).
What does it cost to add an extra checked bag?
Around €20–€25 for 20 kg if added online at least 3 hours before departure. Prices vary by route, date and channel, and adding bags at the airport is markedly more expensive.
Is EcoJet cheaper than booking Basic plus extras?
Often, yes. If you need both a cabin bag and checked luggage, the EcoJet fare (cabin bag + 20 kg checked bundled) frequently costs less than a Basic fare with both added separately — and it removes the €50 gate-fee risk.
Can I bring sports equipment or a musical instrument on AJet?
Oversize items like skis, bikes, golf bags and large instruments travel as special/excess baggage with route-dependent fees — declare and pre-pay via Manage Booking. A small instrument within cabin-bag dimensions can go in the cabin on a fare that includes a cabin bag.
