🌍 About Boa Vista

Cape Verde isn't one place but ten dry volcanic islands off West Africa, each its own thing. Sal and Boa Vista are flat and built for beaches and loggerhead turtles; Santo Antão is all knife-edge ridges and hiking trails; Fogo is a live volcano where villagers live inside the caldera and grow grapes for wine on black volcanic soil — order a glass of Chã. Eat cachupa, the slow-cooked corn-and-bean stew that's the actual national dish, not a tourist invention. Mindelo on São Vicente is the music town, home of morna and Cesária Évora. Best window is November to June: dry, warm around 26–28°C, with whale-watching from March. Skip August to October, when it's hot, humid and the only real rain falls (though it does turn Santo Antão green).
