The best value is usually in the pleasant autumn and late-spring shoulders. Checked against every return fare on sale as we write, Taipei from Prague costs considerably more than it is usually quoted at: the floor is 14 626 Kč on Etihad through Abu Dhabi, the median 22 357 Kč, and the dearest fare we found 30 276 Kč. So a genuinely good return is under about 18 559 Kč, a fair price is in the low twenty-thousands, and there is nothing in the ten-thousands to hold out for. When to book & how to save
- Book 3–4 months ahead for summer and the year-end holidays, and even earlier if you must travel over Lunar New Year, when fares and demand spike.
- Target the shoulder months (March–May and September–November) for the lowest fares and pleasant Taiwanese weather.
- Weigh the nonstop against a stop: China Airlines and STARLUX save time, but a one-stop Gulf routing beat them by about a third on the dates we could price — check both.
- Mind the checked-bag rules: full-service carriers to Taiwan usually include a generous checked allowance, but the cheapest promo fares can be leaner — compare the all-in price.
- Consider typhoon season: July to September can bring storms; travel insurance and a little schedule flexibility are wise.
Arriving in Taipei
Flights land at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), about 40 km west of central Taipei. The easiest way in is the Taoyuan Airport MRT, which reaches Taipei Main Station in roughly 40 minutes for about 110 Kč. Frequent airport buses run to the city day and night for a similar fare, and a taxi to central Taipei takes around 40 minutes for roughly 700–900 Kč. Taipei Main Station links straight onto the high-speed rail if you are heading south to Taichung, Tainan or Kaohsiung.
