For the opposite of cobblestones, head to Telliskivi, a former rail-industrial yard now full of studios, the Balti Jaam market, and the city's best casual food and bars; skip the costumed medieval restaurants around the square. Eat black rye bread and, if it's winter, verivorst (blood sausage). Come June–August for 15–25°C days and near-midnight light. December is cold but the Town Hall Square Christmas market is among Europe's best; November is the one month to skip — dark and wet with no payoff.
