June to August is peak ski season. ZQN gets very busy — domestic passengers should arrive at least 2 hours early. Pre-book shuttles and Super Shuttle seats well in advance as they sell out.

If renting a car, check whether snow chains are required for mountain access roads in winter. Several ski resort access roads legally require chains in certain conditions. Rental companies often provide them — ask when collecting.

The Connectabus Route 11 costs approximately $12 NZD and takes 30 minutes to the town centre — the most affordable option. The Super Shuttle is a door-to-door shared van service for around $35 NZD taking 25 minutes, ideal for families or heavy luggage. Taxis and Uber are $60–75 NZD and take 15–20 minutes, the fastest choice. There is no train service to ZQN.

The Air New Zealand Koru Lounge is located airside near Gate 5, open 05:00–20:00. Access is available to Business Premier passengers, Air NZ Gold/Elite status holders, and Star Alliance Gold cardholders. There is no Priority Pass or LoungeKey lounge at ZQN. If you require lounge access, plan ahead for your connecting flight at Auckland or Christchurch.
