Telecom counters in Arrivals (T1, T2, T3) operate 24/7 and sell prepaid SIM cards with 5G unlimited plans from $15–20 USD for 7 days. Far cheaper and faster than roaming. eSIM options also available for compatible phones.

TPE offers free public shower facilities in the departures area (near lounges). Towels are included. Excellent for long-haul transit passengers — freshen up without lounge access. Locate at the service desks airside in T2.

The free automated Skytrain connects T1, T2 and T3 airside — no re-screening required. Runs continuously every few minutes. Allow 10–15 minutes for a terminal transfer including walking time at each end.

Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, NFC) are standard at the airport and major malls. Keep a small amount of NTD cash for night markets, small eateries, and anywhere outside major chains — Taiwan’s vendor culture still uses cash frequently.

The MRT Express stops at midnight. For late-night arrivals, use the Kuo-Kuang Bus 1819 which runs 24/7 to Taipei Main Station — buses approximately every 15–30 minutes overnight. The journey takes 60–90 minutes depending on traffic. A taxi costs around 1,200–1,500 TWD ($40–50 USD) and is fastest, usually 40–60 minutes at night.

T3 opened in phases from March 2026. China Airlines and Starlux long-haul flights relocated here. Some regional flights remain in T1 during the transition. Confirm your terminal when checking in online — the T3 LED flower ceiling and biometric gates are the new showpiece of the airport.

Credit cards and contactless payments are standard at the airport, hotels, and major restaurants. However, cash is still strongly recommended for night markets (Shilin, Raohe), small local eateries, and street food vendors. ATMs are widely available at TPE — withdraw NTD on arrival if you plan to explore beyond central Taipei.

One-ID is Taiwan’s facial recognition boarding system. Register your face at check-in desks in T2 or T3 — your face then becomes your boarding pass for the gate. At immigration, foreign visitors can use E-Gates (automated) once registered, processing in under 10 seconds. No card, no phone needed at the gate.

China Airlines, EVA Air, and Starlux passengers can check their luggage and collect boarding passes at the dedicated counters inside Taipei Main Station MRT — up to 3 hours before their flight. You then travel to the airport by MRT Express (35 min) completely luggage-free. Available from 06:00 daily — check airline websites for current hours and eligible flights.
