Agadir isn't the Morocco of medieval medinas — a 1960 earthquake leveled the city, and it was rebuilt as a low-rise modern beach town, so come for the wide Atlantic bay and surf, not old stone. The surf is the real draw: consistent swell from September to April, with Taghazout's breaks half an hour north. Eat at Port de Pêche, the working fish port — pick your catch at the stalls and have it grilled on the spot with lemon. The regional specialty is amlou, a paste of argan oil, almonds and honey that you'll only find this rich in the Souss; spread it on msemen flatbread. Best months are September–June: warm, dry, almost no rain. Skip high summer inland heat — here the Atlantic keeps it mild, though the water stays cool (17–21°C) year-round.
