    🌍 About Punta Cana
Punta Cana is a resort strip, not a town — a wall of all-inclusives along Bávaro beach where most people never leave the gate. The fix is Playa Macao, a free public beach 20 minutes north where family-run shacks grill the morning's fish and Dominican-style lobster right on the sand. For something stranger, Hoyo Azul at Scape Park (Cap Cana) is a turquoise cenote at the foot of a limestone cliff, reached on a short walk through the bush. Eat la bandera — rice, stewed red beans, and meat, the everyday national plate, far better than any buffet's "Dominican night." Come December–April for dry, calm weather; February and March are the pick. September and October bring the heaviest rain. May, June, and November fares are cheapest and still warm.
