🌍 About Fortaleza
Fortaleza is northeast Brazil's beach capital, and the local ritual is Praia do Futuro — a long city beach lined with *barracas*, open-air seafood halls with tables in the sand. Go on a Thursday, "Dia do Caranguejo," when whole tables crack mallets over crab cooked in coconut milk; that's the dish to order, not the generic fish plate. The city is also the jumping-off point for Jericoacoara and Canoa Quebrada, the dune beaches a few hours up the coast that people actually come for. Go August to December: it's the dry, sunny season, and rain is nearly nonexistent. Avoid March to May, when heavy rains hit almost daily. Temperatures barely move all year (around 30°C), so the only real variable is rain — and the sunny months happen to be the high-demand ones, so book fares early.
