🌍 About Cardiff
Cardiff calls itself the City of Arcades for good reason: it has more Victorian and Edwardian shopping arcades than anywhere in Britain — glass-roofed lanes of independent shops, the oldest, Royal Arcade, open since 1858. The other thing that defines the place is the Principality Stadium, dropped right in the city centre rather than the suburbs; on a Six Nations rugby weekend its retractable roof and central spot turn the whole town into one loud, friendly carnival. Eat Welsh cakes warm off the griddle at Bakestones in Cardiff Market, and try a Glamorgan sausage — not meat at all, but Caerphilly cheese and leeks. Come February–March for that rugby atmosphere if you don't mind crowds and higher fares; April–May and September–October are quieter and cheaper, and summer brings the longest, warmest days.
