🌍 About Wuhan
Wuhan is three old river towns — Wuchang, Hankou, Hanyang — fused at the point where the Han River meets the Yangtze, so the city is split by water and crossed by long bridges. Breakfast is the thing to get right: reganmian, "hot dry noodles," served with no soup at all, just alkaline noodles tossed in sesame paste, chili oil and pickled radish. It's a Wuhan invention and locals eat it standing up, daily. Skip the generic riverfront and go to Wuhan University, whose 1930s campus fills with Yoshino cherry blossoms in late March — roughly the 17th to 27th is peak. That, or mild October, is when to come. Avoid July and August: Wuhan is one of China's "three furnaces," regularly over 40°C and brutally humid, with the lakes only making it stickier.
