🌍 About Zürich
Zürich sits at the head of a long lake, and in summer locals don't just look at the water — they swim in it, jumping into the Limmat from the riverside Badi bathhouses straight through the city centre. The dish to order is Zürcher Geschnetzeltes: strips of veal in a cream-and-white-wine sauce with rösti, invented in the old guild houses and still done properly at the Zeughauskeller. Skip the chocolate-box Old Town and head to Zürich-West, the former industrial quarter where foundries and viaduct arches now hold bars and food halls under the Prime Tower. Come June to September for lake-swimming weather; winter is grey and short on daylight. Note that Zürich is one of the world's most expensive cities, so a cheap fare is the start of the budget, not the end of it.
