🌍 About Lamezia Terme
Most people land at Lamezia (SUF) and drive straight to the Calabrian coast — it's the region's main airport, with Tropea's beaches about an hour southwest. But the town itself is worth a stop. It was stitched together in 1967 from three older towns, and the spa one is the reason to come: Terme di Caronte, sulphurous hot springs the Romans already used, still running as working baths. Eat 'nduja, the soft, fiery spreadable pork salami that's pure Calabria, ideally on fileja, the hand-rolled pasta twisted around a rod. Come May–June or September: warm Tyrrhenian weather without August's heat, crowds, or prices. Winters are mild but quiet.
