🌍 About Florence

Florence packs the Renaissance into a few walkable blocks, but the crowds pile up around the Duomo and the Uffizi. Cross the river to the Oltrarno, the quieter left bank where bookbinders, gilders, and jewelers still work in street-level workshops — the real craft tradition, not staged for tourists. Eat bistecca alla fiorentina: a thick T-bone from Chianina cattle, grilled over coals, served rare and priced by weight (per etto, 100g). Order it rare — that's the point; asking for well-done is the tourist's mistake. Come late April to early June or September–October, when it's warm and the museum lines are bearable. Skip July and August: peak crowds and 35°C heat.
