🌍 About West Palm Beach
West Palm Beach is the mainland city, not the beach itself — that's Palm Beach, the skinny barrier island just across the Intracoastal bridge, home to Worth Avenue's boutiques and Mar-a-Lago. WPB fronts the waterway, so you cross over for ocean sand; downtown is Clematis Street and Rosemary Square for bars and dinner, plus the Norton Museum of Art, genuinely strong on Impressionists and Chinese jade. Order Florida stone crab when it's in season (mid-October to mid-May) — claws sold by size, served cold with mustard sauce, and worth the splurge. Winter (December–April) is the payoff: dry, warm, 70s–80s, but also the priciest and most crowded. Cheap summer fares come with heat, humidity and hurricane season (June–November); September is the real gamble.
