Cheap Flights London to Bangalore 2026 — Fares, Airlines & Best Time to Book

London to Bangalore (Bengaluru) is India’s tech-capital route and one of the busiest UK–India corridors, with three airlines flying it non-stop from Heathrow. The non-stop takes a little over ten hours. Connecting itineraries are not automatically cheaper — in our latest fare check the cheapest one-ticket connection cost more than the cheapest non-stop, and the only cheaper fares were three-leg self-transfers out of Luton. This guide covers who flies it, what a return actually costs in pounds, and when to book.

Route: London (LHR for the non-stops; Luton and Gatwick on connecting fares) → Bengaluru, Kempegowda International (BLR)

Distance: approximately 8,000 km (5,000 miles)

Non-stop flight time: about 10h 10m outbound, around 10h 45m on the return

Direct flights: Yes — British Airways, Air India and Virgin Atlantic all fly non-stop from Heathrow on Boeing 787s, about 148 departures a month between them. British Airways went twice daily on 1 June 2026 (Boeing 787-8, replacing the 777-200ER) and Virgin Atlantic runs up to 13 flights a week (Boeing 787-9). Connecting fares are only cheaper if you accept a three-leg self-transfer.

Fares from London to Bangalore (GBP)

Bengaluru’s mild climate makes it a year-round destination, so fares track demand more than weather. The peaks are the Christmas/New Year break, the Indian festival season — Diwali falls on 8 November in 2026 — and the UK summer holidays. The table below shows how demand moves through the year; for money, use the live figures underneath it rather than a month-by-month estimate.

Month Demand
January medium
February medium
March medium
April medium
May low-medium
June medium (summer)
July high (summer holidays)
August high
September low-medium
October high (festival season)
November high (Diwali, 8 Nov)
December very high (holidays)

Reference points from a live fare check on 5 August 2026 — the 100 cheapest economy returns, hand baggage only, for departures between August 2026 and January 2027. The cheapest non-stop was £470 and the median non-stop £475. The cheapest one-stop on a single ticket was £477. The cheapest fare of any kind was £414, but every fare under £430 was a three-leg self-transfer out of Luton taking 17 hours or more. We hold no measured price history for Heathrow itself, so no typical Heathrow figure is claimed here; our longer-run tracking of Gatwick departures (32 observations) puts a good return near £480.

Airlines on this route

Non-stop (about 10 hours):

  • Air India — non-stop from Heathrow and the price leader among the non-stops in our check (median £475); the flag carrier, with strong onward domestic connections across India.
  • British Airways — non-stop from Heathrow, twice daily since 1 June 2026 on the Boeing 787-8 which replaced the 777-200ER. It held none of the 100 cheapest fares in our check, so compare it rather than assuming it is competitive.
  • Virgin Atlantic — non-stop from Heathrow on the Boeing 787-9, up to 13 flights a week through the summer and daily across September and October 2026. Its cheapest economy return in our sample was £1,767, far above the other two.

Connecting (12–13 hours on one ticket; 17 hours and up on the cheapest self-transfers):

  • KLM and Air France via Amsterdam — the cheapest connection on a single ticket in our check, £477–£498, about 12h 10m door to door.
  • Qatar Airways via Doha — £584–£593 and about 13 hours in our sample, departing Gatwick. It was the most expensive connecting option we found, not the cheapest.
  • Gulf Air via Bahrain, combined with Wizz Air UK out of Luton — the source of every fare under £430, but sold as separate tickets across three legs and 17–34 hours, with no protection if a connection is missed.
  • Emirates (Dubai), Etihad (Abu Dhabi) and Turkish Airlines (Istanbul) — all serve both ends of the route, but none of them appeared among the 100 cheapest fares we checked.

The usual advice — stop somewhere in the Gulf and save — did not hold when we checked it. The cheapest non-stop (£470) and the cheapest one-ticket connection (£477) were within £10 of each other, and the only genuinely cheaper fares were three-leg self-transfers that take at least seven hours longer. Unless you are chasing the very bottom of the market and are comfortable re-booking yourself if a leg is missed, take the non-stop.

When to book & how to save

  • Book 2–4 months ahead for the best balance of price and choice; UK–India fares rarely get cheaper in the last few weeks.
  • Avoid the peaks if you can: Christmas/New Year, the UK summer holidays and Diwali, which falls on 8 November in 2026.
  • September was the cheapest month we could measure — 70 of the 100 cheapest returns in our check departed in September. Our window ran to the end of January 2027 and not one December or January departure made that list.
  • Be flexible on London airport: Heathrow has all three non-stops, but every fare under £430 in our check departed from Luton, and the Doha connection ran out of Gatwick.
  • Check checked-bag rules: full-service and Gulf carriers usually include 23–30 kg to India, but the cheapest “light” fares may not — compare the all-in price.

Arriving in Bangalore

Flights land at Kempegowda International (BLR), about 40 km north of the city — a modern airport but a fair drive from the centre. The easiest options are the Vayu Vajra airport buses (air-conditioned Volvos to Majestic, MG Road, Whitefield, Electronic City and more, ₹150–₹380 depending on distance) or a metered taxi/ride-hail such as Ola or Uber (roughly £9–£17 to central areas, 50–90 minutes depending on traffic). There is still no metro to the airport: no section of the Namma Metro Blue Line is open to passengers, and the stretch that actually reaches the terminals is currently targeted for 2027.

Frequently asked questions

Are there direct flights from London to Bangalore?

Yes. British Airways, Air India and Virgin Atlantic all fly non-stop from London Heathrow to Bengaluru on Boeing 787s — about 148 departures a month between them. British Airways has flown the route twice daily since 1 June 2026. Connecting flights are not reliably cheaper: in our latest fare check the cheapest connection on a single ticket cost more than the cheapest non-stop.

How long is the flight from London to Bangalore?

The non-stop takes about 10 hours 10 minutes outbound and around 10 hours 45 minutes on the return against the winds. Connections on a single ticket ran 12 to 13 hours in our latest check; the cheapest fares of all are three-leg self-transfers via Istanbul and Bahrain that take 17 hours or more.

How much does it cost to fly from London to Bangalore?

In a live check of the 100 cheapest economy returns for departures between August 2026 and January 2027, the cheapest non-stop was £470 and the median non-stop £475. The cheapest fare of any kind was £414 — a three-leg self-transfer out of Luton. That sample only reached into November, so it makes no claim about the December peak.

What is the cheapest month to fly from London to Bangalore?

September was comfortably the cheapest month we could measure: 70 of the 100 cheapest returns departed in September, from £470 non-stop. We searched departures through to the end of January 2027 and no December or January date made that list, which fits the winter peak being expensive. Diwali falls on 8 November in 2026.

Which airlines fly from London to Bangalore?

Non-stop: British Airways, Air India and Virgin Atlantic from Heathrow. Connecting, as priced in our latest check: KLM and Air France via Amsterdam were the cheapest single ticket, Qatar Airways via Doha the most expensive, and Gulf Air via Bahrain the cheapest overall but only as a three-leg self-transfer from Luton. Emirates, Etihad and Turkish Airlines also serve both ends of the route but did not appear among the 100 cheapest fares.

Which airport do I fly into in Bangalore?

You arrive at Kempegowda International (BLR), Bengaluru’s single international airport, about 40 km north of the city. Allow extra time for the transfer — traffic into the centre can make the drive 60–90 minutes at busy times.

How far in advance should I book London to Bangalore flights?

Aim to book 2 to 4 months ahead. UK–India fares tend to rise as departure approaches, especially around the December, summer and Diwali peaks, so early booking almost always wins.

Is it cheaper to fly on weekdays?

Not noticeably on this route. In our latest check the median midweek return (Tuesday to Thursday) was £473 against £476 for Friday to Sunday, and the non-stop fare sat between £470 and £476 on every day of the week we sampled. Flexing your dates is still worth doing, but on London–Bengaluru the saving comes from finding a cheaper departure date, not from avoiding the weekend.
