Cheap Flights Berlin to Hong Kong 2026 — Fares, Airlines & Best Time to Book

There is no non-stop flight from Berlin to Hong Kong, and our latest fare check confirms it: all 100 of the cheapest fares connect once. Berlin lost its long-haul base when Air Berlin folded, so the real choice here is which connecting carrier gives the best balance of price and time — and the answer is not the obvious one. The cheapest routing we found was Finnair via Helsinki, and the Frankfurt option most guides list first cost roughly twice as much as everything else. This guide covers the realistic routings, what a return actually costs in euros, and when to book.

Fares from Berlin to Hong Kong (EUR)

Hong Kong is a year-round city destination, but fares still move with the seasons and Chinese holidays. The autumn window (October to early December) has the most pleasant weather and firm demand; the Christmas/New Year and Lunar New Year peaks — Lunar New Year falls on 6 February 2027 — are the priciest. The table below tracks that demand pattern; for money, use the measured figures underneath it, because the cheap fares did not come from where this route is usually said to be cheapest.

Reference points from a live fare check on 5 August 2026 — the 100 cheapest economy returns, hand baggage only, for departures between August 2026 and January 2027. Fares ran €624–€1,386, but they are not evenly spread: four in five sat in a tight band between €723 and €735, so about €730 is the going rate. The genuinely cheap end belonged to Finnair via Helsinki, from €624, and the top of the range is a single carrier — Lufthansa via Frankfurt, at €1,375 and up. We hold no recorded price observations for Berlin–Hong Kong, so no long-run average is claimed here.

Airlines on this route

Every option connects once. Ranked by what they actually cost in our check, rather than by reputation:

• Finnair via Helsinki — the cheapest routing in our check, from €624 with a median of €636, and one of the quicker ones at about 15h 35m. Both legs are Finnair’s own (the short Berlin hop is sometimes flown by its regional partner Norra). It is rarely mentioned on this route; on price it should be your first check.
• Etihad via Abu Dhabi — €690–€735, a strong economy product and a genuine alternative to the other Gulf hubs. Worth knowing: the Abu Dhabi–Berlin leg is operated by Condor, so half your trip is not on Etihad metal.
• Turkish Airlines via Istanbul — €704–€710 in our sample, a huge network and consistent pricing.
• Qatar Airways via Doha — the most common routing we saw, at €721–€735. Note that many of these itineraries are ticketed under a partner airline’s code, so the booking may not say Qatar; check who is operating.
• KLM via Amsterdam and Air France via Paris — both appeared, at full-service prices and only a handful of fares each.
• Lufthansa via Frankfurt — frequent and reliable, but in our check it cost €1,375–€1,386, roughly double every other option. Price it before assuming the German hub is the sensible default.
• SWISS via Zurich, Emirates via Dubai and Cathay Pacific via a European hub — all connect Berlin to Hong Kong, but none produced a fare among the 100 cheapest we checked.

A note on the Gulf carriers, because the usual advice needs correcting here: they were not the cheapest option in our check — Finnair was, by about €70 — though they did come in far below the German hub:

• Qatar Airways via Doha — excellent economy and by far the most frequent option in our sample, at a very consistent €721–€735.
• Etihad via Abu Dhabi — slightly cheaper than Qatar at €690–€735, with the Berlin leg flown by Condor.
• Emirates via Dubai — a strong product on paper, but it produced no fare among the cheapest hundred on the dates we checked, so price it rather than assume.

When to book & how to save

• Book 2–4 months ahead for the best balance of price and choice; long-haul fares to Hong Kong rarely get cheaper in the final weeks.
• Avoid the peaks: Christmas/New Year, and Chinese (Lunar) New Year, which falls on 6 February 2027.
• Compare hubs properly — the gap is far bigger than usually claimed. In our check the Gulf routings came in around €650 below Lufthansa via Frankfurt (€731 against €1,383 on medians) — many times the modest gap this route is usually described with. And Helsinki beat them all.
• Watch the humid summer for the lowest fares — typhoon season runs roughly July to September, so build in a little schedule slack.
• Check the checked-bag allowance: full-service and Gulf carriers to Hong Kong typically include 23–30 kg, but the cheapest “light” fares may not.

Arriving in Hong Kong

All flights land at Hong Kong International (HKG) on Chek Lap Kok, about 34 km west of the city. The fastest way in is the Airport Express train to Hong Kong or Kowloon station (around 24 minutes, roughly €12), with free shuttle buses onward to major hotels. A metered taxi to Kowloon or Central runs about €30–€45 including the tunnel tolls, and Cityflyer airport buses cover the whole territory more cheaply if you’re not in a hurry.
