🌍 About Zanzibar, Zanzibar
Stone Town is the draw: a UNESCO-listed Swahili-Arab trading town of coral-stone houses and carved wooden doors, dense and walkable, with a clove-and-cardamom history — Zanzibar was once the world's biggest clove producer. The real meal is at Forodhani night market on the seafront, where stalls fire up at sunset. Skip the touristy "Zanzibar pizza" and order urojo, the so-called Zanzibar mix: a tangy tamarind-and-coconut soup loaded with potato, a boiled egg, and crispy bhajia fritters. Beaches are on the east and north coasts, an hour or two from town. Come June to October — dry, warm, clear skies, the best diving and the busiest months. Avoid the long rains of March to May, when many places half-close.
