🌍 About Rhodes
Rhodes has the largest inhabited medieval town in Europe — a walled Old Town the Knights of St John built in the 1300s, where the cobbled Street of the Knights still runs from the harbour gate up to the Grand Master's Palace, all of it lived in, not roped off. Order pitaroudia, the local chickpea fritters thick with mint and cumin — closer to falafel than to a meatball, and unique to here. Don't miss Lindos: a whitewashed village 50km south with an ancient acropolis of Athena on the rock above it, reached by 300-odd steps. Come May–June or September–October: 25–30°C, swimmable sea, and far thinner crowds than the July–August crush. Rhodes is one of the sunniest islands in Greece, so even the shoulder-season cheap fares land you reliable sun.
