Caracas sits in a long valley with El Ávila — the locals call it Warairarepano — a green mountain wall rising straight off the city's north edge, separating it from the Caribbean. Come in the dry season, December to April (January–March is driest); the rainy season runs May to November, when storms reliably roll in around mid-afternoon, so mornings stay sunny. Temperatures hold near 27°C year-round thanks to the altitude.
