🌍 About Paphos
Paphos isn't a beach town with ruins tacked on — the ruins are the point. The Archaeological Park at Kato Paphos has been UNESCO-listed since 1980 for its Roman floor mosaics, and the House of Dionysos alone has 556 square metres of them: hunting scenes and Greek myths laid in coloured stone around AD 200, still in place where the villa stood. Skip the souvlaki you'd get anywhere and order souvla — fist-sized chunks of pork slow-grilled over charcoal for an hour, the proper Cypriot version. Come in September or October: the sea is still 25–27°C, the summer crowds have thinned, and fares drop from the July peak. April–May works too. Midsummer is hot and busy; winter is mild but the water turns cold and quiet.
