Ubud inland is the cultural heart (rice terraces, craft villages); the south is beaches and traffic. Come April–October for dry, sunny days; late September and May hit the sweet spot of good weather and thinner crowds. November–March is wet but cheap, with short heavy downpours. One catch: on Nyepi (19 March 2026), the whole island — airport included — shuts for 24 hours of silence.
