Yerevan is one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited cities — founded in 782 BC, older than Rome — and most of what you see is pink-and-orange tuff stone quarried locally, which turns the center warm at sunset. Coffee is thick, unfiltered, Armenian-style; ask for it. Come in September: the brutal summer heat (often 38–40°C in July–August) has broken, skies stay clear, and evenings are warm.
