🌍 About Douala

Douala is Cameroon's economic capital and biggest port — where the business happens, not a postcard town, and most travelers pass through it on the way somewhere else. The thing to eat is ndolé, the national dish: bitterleaf stewed down with ground peanuts and fish or beef, usually with fried plantains alongside. It's bitter, rich, and genuinely good. The one fact that shapes any trip here: Douala is among the wettest cities on earth, around 4,000mm of rain a year. From July to September more than half a meter falls each month — streets flood, plans wash out. Come in the dry season, roughly December to February: hot and humid, but actually walkable.
