🌍 About Chengdu

Chengdu runs on a slower, easier rhythm than China's coastal giants, and it is all the better for it. The city is famous for its giant pandas, lolling and tumbling at the breeding research base on the northern edge of town. Afternoons are made for the teahouses of People's Park, where you sip jasmine tea, get your ears cleaned, and watch retirees play cards beneath the trees. This is the capital of Sichuan cooking, so brace for the numbing tingle of hotpot bobbing with chillies and peppercorns, plus mapo tofu and dan dan noodles done properly. Catch a face-changing Sichuan opera performance, wander the restored lanes of Kuanzhai Alley, and use the city as a springboard to the giant Buddha at Leshan.
