🌍 About Nanjing

Nanjing was China's capital under six dynasties and again in the early Ming, and the standout is the Ming city wall — built in the 1300s, over 35 km still standing, the longest surviving city wall in the world, and walkable in long stretches. Eat Nanjing salted duck (yánshuǐyā): brined and gently poached so the meat stays pale and tender, not roasted like Beijing's. The Qinhuai riverfront around the Confucius Temple is the old pleasure quarter and is best after dark, when the canal boats light up.
