🌍 About Casablanca
Casablanca is Morocco's working port city, not a postcard medina — and that's the point. The Hassan II Mosque has the tallest minaret in the world at 210 metres and sits partly over the Atlantic; it's one of the few mosques in Morocco non-Muslims can actually enter, on a guided tour. Downtown holds thousands of 1920s–30s Art Deco and Mauresque buildings — wrought-iron balconies, carved façades, rounded corners — clustered along Boulevard Mohammed V, a concentration rivaled almost nowhere outside Europe. Skip the tourist tagines and eat at the Central Market instead: grilled sardines and fish straight off the boats. Come April–June or September–November for warm days and a cooling sea breeze; summer turns humid, and winter is mild but grey and wet.
