• 12:45 — Little Mermaid statue (15 min walk along the harbour). Smaller than tourists expect — that’s the running joke — but it’s the photo nobody skips.
• 13:30 — Lunch in the Latin Quarter or at Torvehallerne (10 min walk back south). Smørrebrød — the open-faced rye sandwich — runs 60–110 DKK at a counter, 180–250 DKK at Aamanns 1921. Hot-dog stands (pølsevogn) sit on most corners at 35–55 DKK.
• 15:00 — Rosenborg Castle + the King’s Garden (15 min walk). The crown jewels sit in the basement (130 DKK entry, 30 min); the gardens around the castle are free and full of locals reading in the grass.
• 16:30 — Strøget shopping street → Tivoli Gardens (Strøget walk takes 20 min end-to-end; Tivoli is 145 DKK entry, opens until 23:00 in summer). Skip Tivoli if you’d rather see Christiania — the freetown commune across the harbour, free to walk through, no photos on Pusher Street.
