🌍 About Zadar
The thing to walk to in Zadar is the Sea Organ: a set of marble steps on the waterfront with pipes built underneath, so the waves push air through and the city's edge literally hums chords — different every minute. Right beside it is the Greeting to the Sun, a big solar disc set into the pavement that lights up after dark. Hitchcock claimed Zadar had the best sunset in the world, and this is where you watch it. The local drink is Maraschino, a clear cherry liqueur made here since the 1500s from sour Marasca cherries — sip it, don't mix it. Come in May-June or September: warm sea, long evenings, and fares well below the July-August peak when the old town fills with cruise crowds.
