Luxembourg City is built on cliffs, and the thing to see is the Bock Casemates — 17 km of defensive tunnels carved into the rock that earned the place its "Gibraltar of the North" nickname. Walk the Chemin de la Corniche above the Grund, the old lower town in the river valley, for the best view of how vertical this city is.
