🌍 About Denpasar
Bali is the one Hindu island in the world's largest Muslim-majority country, which is why you'll see daily palm-leaf offerings on every doorstep and why the temples — Uluwatu on its sea cliff, Tirta Empul's spring-water purification pools — are working religious sites, not relics. Eat babi guling, Balinese spit-roasted suckling pig with crackling skin and a paste of turmeric, lemongrass and chilli; warungs cook it overnight and sell out by early afternoon, so go for lunch. Ubud inland is the cultural heart (rice terraces, craft villages); the south is beaches and traffic. Come April–October for dry, sunny days; late September and May hit the sweet spot of good weather and thinner crowds. November–March is wet but cheap, with short heavy downpours. One catch: on Nyepi (19 March 2026), the whole island — airport included — shuts for 24 hours of silence.
