🌍 About Tallinn
Tallinn has one of the best-preserved medieval old towns in Northern Europe, but the detail worth knowing is the Town Hall Pharmacy on Raekoja plats — open since 1422 and still a working chemist, with a side room of displays on what passed for medicine then. For the opposite of cobblestones, head to Telliskivi, a former rail-industrial yard now full of studios, the Balti Jaam market, and the city's best casual food and bars; skip the costumed medieval restaurants around the square. Eat black rye bread and, if it's winter, verivorst (blood sausage). Come June–August for 15–25°C days and near-midnight light. December is cold but the Town Hall Square Christmas market is among Europe's best; November is the one month to skip — dark and wet with no payoff.
