🌍 About Prague

Skip the trdelník stands clustered around Old Town — that spit-cake is a 2000s tourist invention from Slovakia and Hungary, not Czech. The real dish is svíčková: marinated beef in a creamy root-vegetable sauce with bread dumplings and a spoon of cranberry. Wash it down with pilsner, which is often cheaper than bottled water here; Czechs drink more beer per head than anyone. For views without the crush at the Astronomical Clock, walk up to Vyšehrad, the quieter clifftop fort above the Vltava where Dvořák and Smetana are buried. Come in May or September–October for warm, walkable days and thinner crowds. December packs the Christmas markets but is the busiest month; January and February are cold and grey but the cheapest time to fly and stay.
