🌍 About Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is often called a continent in miniature: the sunny, near-desert south and the greener, cloudier north (around the capital, Las Palmas) can feel like different islands an hour apart. The headline sight is the Maspalomas dunes — 400 hectares of Sahara-blown sand running right down to the Atlantic, a protected reserve you can walk into for free. Eat papas arrugadas con mojo: small potatoes boiled in heavily salted water until the skins wrinkle, served with mojo rojo (spicy) and mojo verde (coriander-garlic). The pull here is the climate — genuinely mild all year, low 20s°C even in January, which is exactly why northern Europeans flood in November to March and fares peak then. For warmth without the crowds or the premium, come May or September.
