🌍 About Palma, Majorca
Palma's cathedral, La Seu, is the one to see — and not just for the Gothic bulk. Gaudí worked on its restoration, and Mallorca-born artist Miquel Barceló sculpted a chapel out of ceramic that looks like the sea floor erupting from the wall. It has the largest rose window of any Gothic cathedral; on a few mornings in winter the light projects it onto the opposite wall. Eat an ensaïmada, the coiled pastry made with pork lard, with coffee at Can Joan de s'Aigo, an 18th-century café. The Old Town behind it is Moorish-narrow, built for shade. Come April–June or September–October: warm sea, mild days, before and after the summer charter crush that swells the airport.
