🌍 About Vigo

Vigo is Galicia at its most unpretentious — a working port city where the Atlantic sets the menu. On the Rúa da Pescadería, nicknamed Oyster Street, women shuck oysters straight from the ría onto plates you eat standing up. Climb to the Monte do Castro for views over the harbour and the fishing fleet, then wander the steep lanes of the Casco Vello, the old town slowly being reborn. This is the launch point for the Cíes Islands, a protected archipelago of white-sand beaches and clear water reachable by boat in the warmer season. Pair grilled seafood with a cold bottle of Albariño, the crisp local white, and finish with a slice of tarta de Santiago. It is salt air, granite, and seriously good eating.
