Spring Airlines is China’s best-known low-cost carrier, and low-cost carriers do not usually appear in
a guide about free hotels. Spring is here because of an arrangement worth understanding: rather than
running its own accommodation programme, it publishes the transit services offered by the
airports it connects through — and several of those airports will put you up for
the night for nothing.
than the airline, the usual airline gates — cabin class, fare family, frequent-flyer tier —
largely do not apply. What matters is which airport you are connecting through and how long you are there.
That is an unusually democratic way to end up with a free bed.
Lanzhou Zhongchuan (LHW)
- Free accommodation for overnight transit passengers within 24 hours: one night, two
same-gender passengers per room, checkout before 14:00 the following day. - You must book it yourself by calling 13669336855 at least four hours
before your first flight departs. The line takes bookings 07:00–23:00. - Free meal voucher if your inbound flight lands inside a meal window — 07:00 to
08:30, 11:00 to 12:30, or 17:00 to 18:30. Collect it at the transfer counter. - Baggage handled for you if your connection is over 75 minutes and not overnight: no
need to reclaim checked bags. - Fast transit for connections under 75 minutes, booked on the same number at least two
hours before the first flight. - Airport 24-hour enquiries: 0931-96556.
Shijiazhuang Zhengding (SJW) — the most generous
If you get a choice of routing, this is the one to pick. Overnight connecting passengers whose two
flights fall on consecutive days get a free bed at a designated hotel, plus free shuttles between terminal
and hotel.
- Book at least one day ahead through the Hebei Airport passenger-service WeChat mini
programme, under the connecting-flight module’s service booking, or by calling 0311-96360. Applications
are accepted 08:00–22:00, and you can book up to seven days before the first flight. - One bed, not one room. You may be sharing with a same-gender passenger; sole
occupancy means negotiating with the hotel and paying the difference. Meals are not included. Checkout is
by 12:00 the next day — or by noon the same day if you check in after midnight. - Unaccompanied 12- to 18-year-olds get a single room at no extra charge.
Unaccompanied children under 12 are not provided with free overnight accommodation. - Free meals for connecting passengers in the terminal at 12:30–13:30 and
18:00–19:00, booked at least a day ahead through the same mini programme. - Free city bus, one return trip, for connections over 6 hours — three routes,
towards the North Guo shopping district, the bus terminus, or the railway station. Collect the voucher at
the transfer centre or the T2 ground-floor service desk. - Free baggage storage for up to 24 hours, behind the T2 check-in counters in zone C.
- If you have checked bags you must collect them and re-check in the next day, two hours before
departure, on the second floor of T2.
Jieyang Chaoshan (SWA)
- Free accommodation for passengers connecting within 48 hours who need
to stay overnight — a wider window than Lanzhou’s 24. The airport provides
one room per person here rather than a shared bed. - Book by phone a day ahead; rooms are tight, and at holidays or during large events the airport may
offer its own staff apartment block instead, with your agreement. - The specific hotel is not yours to choose — the airport assigns it.
- The benefit is personal, non-transferable, has no cash value and no change given.
- A 30 yuan meal voucher for anyone connecting within 48 hours, usable at designated
outlets.
Nanchang Changbei (KHN)
On the list, but be clear about what it offers: no accommodation. Domestic-to-domestic passengers with
no checked baggage skip the second security check and can go straight airside after the transfer desk, and
there are shopping discounts against a transfer pass. Useful, but not a bed. Enquiries 0791-87652114.
The through-ticket bit
Spring’s connecting products that include through check-in and baggage through-tagging let you
collect both boarding passes at your origin and have bags tagged to your final destination, with no need to
reclaim them or check in again at the transfer point. Spring notes the actual service depends on what each
airport arranges on the day, and that some airports differ — so read the local transfer notices
rather than assuming.

Does Spring Airlines give a free hotel?
Not as an airline-wide programme. Spring publishes a list of partner airports whose own transit centres provide the service, and the terms differ at each one. Free overnight accommodation appears at Lanzhou, Shijiazhuang and Jieyang Chaoshan.
What do I get at Lanzhou?
One free night for overnight transits within 24 hours, two same-gender passengers to a room, with checkout before 14:00 the next day. You must call Lanzhou Zhongchuan’s transit line on 13669336855 at least four hours before your first flight departs, between 07:00 and 23:00. There is also a free meal voucher if your inbound lands in one of the three meal windows.
What about Shijiazhuang?
The most generous of the four. Overnight connecting passengers get a free bed at a designated hotel plus free shuttles to and from the terminal. On top of that: free meals in two daily windows, a free return city bus for connections over 6 hours, and free baggage storage for up to 24 hours.
Can an unaccompanied minor use it?
At Shijiazhuang, passengers aged 12 to 18 travelling without a companion are given a single room at no extra charge. Unaccompanied children under 12 are not provided with free overnight accommodation at all.
Is there a fast-connection service?
Yes, at Lanzhou. Passengers with under 75 minutes between flights can book an expedited transit by calling 13669336855 at least two hours before the first flight departs.
Which airports have no accommodation?
Nanchang Changbei is on Spring’s partner list but offers convenience rather than a bed — domestic-to-domestic passengers without checked bags skip the second security check, and there are shopping discounts. No overnight accommodation is published for it.
