🌍 About Shanghai

Shanghai is where China's past and future face each other across a river. On the Bund, grand colonial-era banks and trading houses look out at the neon towers of Pudong, the bottle-opener skyscraper and the pearl-topped tower glowing after dark. Behind the waterfront, the plane-tree-lined streets of the former French Concession hide boutiques, café terraces, and the lane houses known as shikumen. Step into Yu Garden's classical rockeries and pavilions, then queue for soup dumplings, the delicate xiaolongbao that scald and reward in equal measure. Browse the art at West Bund, ride the maglev, and end the evening with a cocktail in a converted warehouse. Cosmopolitan and quick-moving, it is the most worldly city in the country and proud of it.
