Shenzhen Airlines publishes a clean, specific set of transit-hotel terms — and then dates them to
2023 and leaves them there. This guide gives you exactly what the airline says, and is straight with you
about the part it does not say.
Services state an applicable period of 27 April 2023 to 31 December 2023. That window
has closed and the airline has not published a replacement. The service is still widely reported as
running, and Chinese carriers routinely leave rules pages un-republished while the product continues, but
I am not going to tell you it is definitely live when the airline’s own page does not say so.

What the terms say
Taking the page at face value, this is a compact and unusually clear offer. Passengers who bought
Shenzhen Airlines tickets and transit at Shenzhen get one night in a transit hotel, breakfast, and
transport in both directions between hotel and airport.
The eligibility rules
- Both flights operated by Shenzhen Airlines. The airline states code-share is not
applicable — so a ZH flight number flown by somebody else does not qualify. - Ticket numbers must start 479 or 999, and both the previous and subsequent flights
must sit under the same record code. - 6 to 36 hours for domestic-to-international, international-to-domestic and
international-to-international transits. - 6 to 24 hours for domestic-to-domestic transits.
- Infants and children cannot use the service alone, but may check in with an adult.
- The service is personal and can only be used by the passenger himself.
- International travellers must hold a valid permit to enter and stay in the country — the hotel
is landside.
You will be sharing a room
This is the sharpest difference between Shenzhen Airlines and its larger neighbours. China Southern
grades hotels and gives higher cabins a room to themselves; Sichuan Airlines sells a paid single-room
upgrade. Shenzhen Airlines states simply that transit passengers at Shenzhen
“will need to share standard guest rooms with other passengers”, and publishes
no upgrade path at all.
If you are travelling as a couple or a family that is fine. If you are alone and the idea of sharing a
twin room with a stranger is a problem, treat this as a free bed you may not want rather than a benefit
you should plan around.
The hotel is named, which is more than most carriers manage
Shenzhen Airlines publishes the property rather than leaving you to find out on arrival. The transit
hotel is the Shenzhen Shanlin Hotel, at No. 95 Fenghuangshan Avenue, Bao’an District,
Shenzhen, reachable on 86-755-27306888. Bao’an is the airport district, so this is an
airport hotel rather than a city-centre one — useful for sleeping between flights, not a base for
seeing Shenzhen.
That single-property listing is worth reading as a signal. Carriers running large schemes publish
contracted hotel grades because they are placing passengers across many properties; a named
single hotel suggests a smaller operation with correspondingly limited rooms. Combined with the one-day
advance booking rule, the practical read is: request it as early as you can, because there is not much
inventory behind it.
How to book
Applications go through the ticket-purchasing channel, the 95361 customer service line, or a
self-service channel, and must be made at least one day before the check-in date, with a
successful booking confirmation as the prerequisite. This is not something to sort out on arrival.
Is it worth it?
If the offer is running, a free night with breakfast and transfers on a 6-hour connection is a good
deal, and 6 hours is a low bar — lower than Qatar, Turkish or Etihad require. But the combination of
a shared room, a codeshare exclusion, a specific ticket-number rule and a published window that expired at
the end of 2023 makes this the one guide in this series I would tell you to verify by telephone before
building plans on it. Ask for the current applicable period, not just “do you have transit
hotels”.
