Caracas sits in a long valley with El Ávila — the locals call it Warairarepano — a green mountain wall rising straight off the city's north edge, separating it from the Caribbean. Take the teleférico cable car to the ~2,100m summit: 15 minutes up, the city sprawling below and open sea on the far side. Come in the dry season, December to April (January–March is driest); the rainy season runs May to November, when storms reliably roll in around mid-afternoon, so mornings stay sunny.
