Xiamen Airlines Free Transit Hotel: 6-Hour Layovers in Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou and Hangzhou

Xiamen Airlines · 4 transit cities · Free hotel · Current 2026 rules
Xiamen Airlines gives you a free hotel on a 6-hour layover — and publishes the desk, the floor and the phone number

Six to twenty-four hours in Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou or Hangzhou and you get a free night. Economy sleeps two to a twin room with a stranger unless you pay the supplement — which is the detail nobody mentions, and the one that decides whether you want it.

Xiamen. The largest of four cities where a 6-hour connection earns a free hotel night.
Read this before you trust anything else you find. Xiamen Airlines currently serves two live pages about this programme and one of them is out of date. A page still reachable on xiamenair.com says the offer is “valid for flights from now until December 31, 2023” and quotes single-room supplements of RMB 135–150. The maintained page says the service is valid for flights from 10 January 2025 onwards and quotes RMB 175–180, with a change dated 10 June 2026. Everything below comes from the maintained page. If you land on figures in the 130s, you are reading the stale one.

Who qualifies

Xiamen splits it into two journey shapes, and both need the segments on a single ticket:

  • Domestic + international (or international + domestic), excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan — connection 6 to 24 hours, and the departure times of the two flights must not fall on the same calendar day.
  • International/regional + intercontinental or Doha (in either order) — same one-ticket requirement.
The operating-carrier rule is narrow, so check who actually flies your legs. Only flights operated by Xiamen Airlines, Hebei Airlines or Jiangxi Airlines count, plus codeshares between Xiamen and those two. Charter flights and all other codeshares are excluded. On the international and regional legs it must be Xiamen Airlines itself. And three booking classes are out: X and O (points redemption) and E (complimentary).

What you actually get — and the room-sharing catch

You are… Hotel level Room
Economy class Economy class hotel Two people per standard twin room
Premium cabin — actually purchased First or Business on the international segment Premium class hotel One person, single room
“Actually purchased” is doing real work in that second row. Xiamen defines premium-cabin passengers as those who bought First or Business on the international segment, and explicitly excludes upgrades taken at the check-in counter, at the gate, or on board. Upgrade your way into business and you still get the economy room.

If you are travelling in economy and want the room to yourself, or you want a bed for a child aged 12 or under (children that age are not allocated beds by default), you pay the difference at the hotel front desk:

Transit city Single-room / extra-bed supplement
Xiamen, Fuzhou, Hangzhou RMB 180
Quanzhou RMB 175

Xiamen notes these figures took effect on 10 June 2026.

Where to go, city by city

This is the part that makes the programme usable, and Xiamen publishes it properly — counter locations down to the gate number, plus phone numbers.

City Where the counter is Phone How to claim
Xiamen (XMN) Opposite Gate 7, 1st floor, Terminal T3, Gaoqi International 0592-5710109 Counter on arrival, or pre-book in the Xiamen Airlines app
Fuzhou (FOC) Fuzhou Tourism Advisory Service Center opposite No. 8, arrivals floor 1, Changle International — or the Fuzhou Airport Business Center 0591-28013497 Counter on arrival
Hangzhou (HGH) Baggage inquiry counter inside the terminal isolation area — T3 opposite carousel B10, T4 opposite carousel 30 0571-87687159 Counter on arrival
Quanzhou (JJN) Xiamen Airlines counter, right of Gate 2, domestic departure hall, Jinjiang International 0595-85316088 / 0595-85318888 Phone the hotline, then go to the hotel
Quanzhou works differently — do not go looking for a desk. For a Quanzhou transit, Xiamen tells you to call the interline transit hotline on arrival, and once the hotel is confirmed you go straight there yourself. Everywhere else you present at a counter.

At the counter, staff verify your booking, reserve the hotel and print a “Xiamen Airlines Transit Passenger Check-in Form”. You take that to the hotel and check in on your own. In Xiamen only, you can also pre-book through the Xiamen Airlines app or mini-programme: Service Center → Travel/Transfer → Transfer Concierge → Transfer Hotel Reservation.

Hangzhou, one of four Chinese cities where Xiamen Airlines provides a free transit hotel
Hangzhou is the newest of the four transit cities on the list, with the counter inside the isolation area.

The limits worth knowing before you plan around it

  • One night, and only the night you land. The stay is valid only on the arrival day of your first segment.
  • No transport included. The product is the room; getting to and from the hotel is on you, as is everything else you spend there.
  • It is one benefit or the other. Take the hotel and you cannot also use Xiamen’s other free transfer services, such as the transfer lounge.
  • Non-transferable, and Chinese passengers transiting these four cities must show a resident ID card at hotel check-in.
  • Late check-out costs extra, paid at the front desk.
  • Xiamen reserves the right to change the rules without notice, and says the rules in force at the time apply.
If you are leaving the airport, the visa question is separate. This guide covers the hotel, not entry to China. Xiamen Airlines publishes its own page on China’s visa-free transfer policy, and the rules depend on your nationality, your onward destination and the city you are transiting. Confirm your position before assuming you can get to the hotel at all.

Frequently asked questions

Does Xiamen Airlines really give a free hotel on a layover?

Yes. On a qualifying connection of 6 to 24 hours in Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou or Hangzhou, with both segments on one ticket and operated by Xiamen Airlines, Hebei Airlines or Jiangxi Airlines, Xiamen Airlines provides one free hotel night. Ground transport to the hotel is not included.

Will I have to share a room?

In economy, yes by default — Xiamen allocates two people per standard twin room at an economy-class hotel. Passengers who actually purchased First or Business on the international segment get a single room at a premium hotel. Upgrades taken at check-in, at the gate or on board do not count.

How much is a room to myself?

You pay the difference at the hotel front desk: RMB 180 in Xiamen, Fuzhou and Hangzhou, or RMB 175 in Quanzhou. Xiamen states these rates took effect on 10 June 2026. The same charge applies if you want a bed for a child aged 12 or under.

How do I apply for the Xiamen Airlines transit hotel?

In Xiamen, Fuzhou and Hangzhou, go to the Xiamen Airlines transfer service counter after you land and staff will book it and print a check-in form for you. In Xiamen you can also pre-book in the airline’s app under Service Center → Travel/Transfer → Transfer Concierge. In Quanzhou you phone the transit hotline instead — 0595-85316088 or 0595-85318888 — then go to the hotel directly.

Which booking classes are excluded?

Points-redemption classes X and O and complimentary class E are not eligible. Charter flights and codeshares other than Xiamen–Hebei and Xiamen–Jiangxi are also excluded.

Can I use the transit hotel and the transfer lounge?

No. Xiamen states that passengers using the free transit accommodation cannot also use its other free transfer services, including the transfer lounge.
