LOT Stopover lets you break a connecting journey in Warsaw. The marketing describes a tidy one-to-eight-day city break. LOT’s actual terms — Annex 6 of its online-services regulations — are looser in one direction and stricter in several others, and they are worth reading before you plan around it.

The three things the coverage gets wrong
2. It is not necessarily free. LOT states plainly that “the Stopover service may be chargeable and depends on the fare conditions of the airline ticket purchased.” Whether you pay is a property of your fare, not of the programme.
3. You have to ask in advance. The benefits apply only if the wish to use the service is declared at least seven days before departure.
Who qualifies
- LOT-operated flights only.
- Return flights only — one-ways are out.
- All destinations to or from Warsaw airport. Not available on domestic flights between Polish airports.
- If more than one person is on the booking, the stopover covers everyone on it.
- Adding, shortening or lengthening a stopover afterwards — and changing or refunding the ticket — again depends on your fare conditions.

Changing your mind afterwards
LOT ties almost everything back to your fare. Adding a stopover to an existing booking, and shortening or lengthening one already added, both depend on the terms of the fare you bought. So does changing or refunding a ticket that includes the service. There is no separate stopover change policy to appeal to — the fare rules govern.
