Stopover Hola Madrid lets you break an Iberia journey in Madrid for up to nine nights without paying extra for the ticket. It is Iberia’s answer to the Icelandair and TAP model, run with the Madrid city authorities, and it comes with a genuinely useful freebie that the airline-hotel programmes do not offer.

How it works
Iberia sets out three steps: check that your route includes a Madrid stopover, choose how many nights you want — the maximum is nine — and book your ticket. It notes the option is available on most of its routes rather than all of them, so the search engine is the arbiter.
Booking it, in Iberia’s three steps
- Find a route with a stopover in Madrid. Iberia’s search will confirm whether your itinerary includes one — it is available on most routes, not all.
- Select the number of nights. You choose, up to the maximum of nine.
- Choose a flight and book. The stopover is applied to the ticket at that point rather than added afterwards.
Because the stopover is selected inside the normal booking flow, there is no separate application, no deadline to hit and nobody to email — a markedly lighter process than Turkish’s 72-hour advance request or SriLankan’s 48-hour phone call.

Iberia has also arranged special prices for museums, palaces and monuments, and for excursions around Madrid, and lists restaurant and shopping partners. Some partners additionally let you collect Avios.

Beyond transport and hotels, Iberia has arranged Stopover pricing across a spread of Madrid businesses: Las Rozas Village for shopping, Galería Canalejas for a guided history walk, and restaurants including Quispe, which Iberia says treats Stopover customers to a maki platter on a first booking. Several partners also let you collect Avios on the spend, which is worth checking if you are already in the Iberia Plus ecosystem.

Judged as a hotel programme, Iberia is mid-table: 25% off Meliá is better than TAP’s typical 10–20% but well short of Copa’s 48%. Judged as a city-break enabler it is strong — nine nights is generous, and the free transport card and museum pricing are aimed at people who will actually leave the airport.
